Misc.... Couches and Waldo

I have posted a picture of the couches that are suppose to be in my living room. Obviously from this post you can tell from my tone they ARE NOT in my living room so this picture is the best I have. I am starting to get really, really mad. Justin is holding me back from going "hormonal" on the store who we ordered from but they are not even returning my inquiries right now. Yesterday I called twice and they said they would call me back and never did. They are saying that the couch is on a truck and the love seat is still being made. I really hope to have couches before the baby comes so that if someone comes over to visit they have a place to sit down.



Last night we went to another Weber State Game. Weber demolished their opponents and we had a blast. Brett and I went on a treat run and ran into Waldo the Wildcat. He gave him five and then we got in line for Churros. While we were in line. Waldo snuck up behind us and tried to steal our popcorn when Brett turned around Waldo was like an inch from his face. Brett was so excited. He got to give him "five" twice in a row. We didnt make it to the end of the game as it was past someones bedtime (and he was jumping up and down a little to much) but it was still a very fun night.

Tomorrow we are headed to Salt Lake to see the Gravity Slashers Motorcycle Jumping at the Energy Solutions Arena. Brett is very excited. I am hoping he learned about staying in his seat better after we left Weber early last night.

More Blood *Update*

Well due to brett being sick and throwing up they are going to wait until he is 100% better and hydrated for the blood work. I am glad to wait because I dont want to get the same test results that caused the concern but at the same time want to get it over with! But to hoping this save some pokes in the arm I am going to be patient.

More Blood

Well the good news is that Brett's iron and glucose levels came out perfect. The bad news is the blood tests came up with a concern and he has to give more blood now! There are numerous possibilities but the number one thing (and what I really hope it turns out to be) is dehydration. The Dr. called and gave us orders to take the next 2 days and make sure he drinks a ton of liquids. Then we have to go to the hospital friday to have his blood drawn again. I am so sad that he has to go through that again. He made it through it and now that he knows what it is I am not sure if it will be easier or harder. I have however decided not to tell him in advance. So on Friday it will be a surprise. I already feel guilty. Anyway they really just need another test to rule that out before looking at other things. keep your figures crossed that is all it is. So now we have one order from the dr. and that is to keep him hydrated and guess what Brett has been doing tonight... throwing up! He had a bit of a cough today and it got all caught up in his throat and once he started throwing up he couldnt stop. Let me just say I will never eat another pickle again. (He also did this, this morning). After the incident I got him to eat 2 Popsicle and he is working on a sprite now. Not exactly healthy but it is liquid.



In other news we should have the couch this week. The store said that the love seat was not complete yet but they agreed to deliver the couch first and then we could get our love seat in a few weeks. I will believe it when I see it but at least its a glimmer of hope.

Drawing Blood

Today we took Brett in to get his blood drawn. We are just having his iron and blood sugar levels checked. Brett has been doing so good at school lately but everyonce in a while he still has those crazy outbursts. His eyes get glossed over and he is like a different person. So while its probably not anything in his levels its worth ruling it out.

anyway Brett was terrified to get his blood drawn. I am so lucky that brett's nana was there to go to the Dr. with us or I am not sure how it would have gone. When we got into the room brett was just scared. You could see it in his face. He hid behind the table. When the dr. came out he did very good and was brave. But as soon as the nurses came in to take his blood he was terrified. Luckily his nana helped him through it. The worst part was getting the needle in and then after that he just looked at her and sang songs. They took 4 vials of blood. after it was all over he got to go to Mcdonalds Playland, the Treehouse Museum and then to Iggy's for spinach dip all with Nana. (I had to go back to work). I think it was a pretty fun day for him. they are home playing Wii now.

Mascot Night

Brett had a much better day today. He did not throw up once. He wasnt really hungry this morning but by noon he was craving pickles. We took a chance to take him to the Weber State Mascot Night and it paid off. He had a blast. He got to give "five" to the Ogden Raptor and Waldo the Wildcat. He also loved watching the Jazz Bear and Real Salt Lake Lion.

My Talented Mother

My mom is so talented and she does not even believe it. (love you mom). Anyway when Brett was born she made him a U of U blanket. Since we still have that one and a new baby on the way she made a Weber blanket and she does not believe how awesome it is. On top of it just being cute she did it all without a pattern. Here are the pictures for all to see with the Weber and Utah Blankets. (thats baby brett on the Utah one).





I know she has also made a Broncos blanket for my nephews. So along with that talent her and my dad refinished their deck this year, and are now remodeling 3 bathrooms. She is also doing a needle point with puppies for the babies room. My mom also hems all my pants for me and can sew whatever you need. If I had only gotten a little bit of her talent!

My mom and dad are going to Hawaii in a few weeks for their 40th wedding anniversary. Staying married for 40 years is another talent!

Couch Update- Sick Boy

Now our couches have been pushed back until next Thursday. The good news is that I have managed to get free delivery (if they ever show up and uphold their verbal offer of free delivery). They said that they are still being manufactured and that they will load on a truck on Sunday in California. I will be able to call back on Monday to see if they are on the truck. The people I speak to are very nice but I am still worried about all the complaints. I sure hope we get the couches soon.

Brett got sent home from school today sick. The owner of the school said that in all her years she has never seen anyone puke as much up at one time as Brett today. I asked if they had any ritz crackers today (that was the last cause of puke) and they had not. They said he had the most excellent day and then while they were painting he just said it tummy hurt and ran for the bathroom. He did not make it and I heard all about his puke going behind the sink sliding down the walls. Poor kid. anyway I was in Sandy and Justin was in class so it took a while for me to get him. He came home and wanted to play with toys. He did not want to watch a movie. I let him play with toys for a minute but you could just see he didnt feel well. His little face was white as a ghost with bright red checks. He doesnt have a fever and he has not thrown up again but you can just see it in his eyes. He has had a few sips of water. Brett is too tough of a kid to admit that he is sick. He and his daddy are watching a movie right now before justin has to run to night classes and then his daddy is going to stay home with him tomorrow. thank goodness its almost the weekend. I asked Brett if he would rather have me home with him a 1/2 day and then his daddy a 1/2 day and he said NO NO NO NO. I want my daddy! I am grateful Justin is such a good daddy and that Brett loves to be with him. It kinda makes me sad that he wants his daddy and not me when he is sick though. I am usually the one who gets the sick cuddles.

Icky Update- Well as soon as his daddy left to go teach night classes Brett decided it was time to throw up his water and the rest of his lunch! I havent thrown up for a few weeks now and I must say that I got very very very close tonight. If i ever throw up again it will be too soon. So tomorrow I will be staying home with him for the first half of the day and Justin the second half. Justin has one meeting in the morning he was going to take Brett to but I am thinking he probably just needs to stay home. My poor baby.

Change is in the Air.

As if adding a new baby to the mix isn’t enough for Brett to handle we are going to throw another thing into the mix for him. Officially my last day at work and his last day of day care is February 25th. I gave his day care notice this morning. It’s probably a bit early to give notice however, I have talked to him about it and don’t want him to be the one spilling the beans. It was a tough decision to pull him out of day care because he is doing great right now. He still has his moments but since they have moved him to the Kindergarten class those moments are far and few between. His new teacher gets him. Our decision is based on a number of factors- 1. He will be having to change anyway in August because they don’t transport to his elementary school (can you believe he will be in kindergarten already- I cant) 2. It saves a ton of money 3. He has the opportunity to be a “stay at home kid” for 5.5 months 4. Its gives his dad and I more time with him (selfish I know). I found a preschool in our neighborhood that most of the neighborhood kids (who we don’t know) go to. It goes 3 days per week for 3 hours a day. Brett will be starting that on March 1st. He is nervous to make new friends but says he wants to stay home more with mom and dad. So this will provide him that opportunity to still get away from the baby a little, do activities with other kids but yet be around the house more with us. We wish we could keep him in the same place for just a few hours a day but it’s just not how they work and with the distance from home I just think he would end up being there all day anyway. This preschool is from 9 am to noon M,W,F so hopefully the 3 hour structure will help him vs. having him get bored. He will be at this new preschool for only 12 weeks and then home for the summer (more change). Over the summer we plan to keep him in different activities like Tball, swimming, etc. In August we will have to determine what daycare he can go to that will transport to his kindergarten class.
As far as Justin and I go: I will be home from February 26th and returning to work April 26th. This is all dependant on the baby (who still has no name) not coming early. The official due date is March 11th. I have everything planned out perfectly as long as his appearance does not come early. On March 11th or after would be perfect. Actually March 12th would be ideal as Justin will be on spring break that Friday through the next week. Brett was really late so I am hoping on time this time. I will be home with Brett for 2 weeks prior to the baby coming which will give Brett and I some one on one time and then him time to start his new school without the baby around. It will also give me some time to sleep. I am so tired these days so while he is in preschool I will get some rest. If the baby comes early I will have to have a few back up plans depending on how early it is. Weber State’s graduation is April 23rd. So starting April 26th Justin will be home until Mid August. Mid august we will have to figure out Brett’s schedule with kindergarten and find him and the baby a day care.
Brett is getting more and more use to the idea of having a baby. Yesterday he was giggling that there is only 1 girl in our family and there will be 4 boys (including the dog). For the most part he really wants to help out as we have been finishing the nursery. But then when you try to ask him a question he wont talk about it. Yesterday he asked me to open my mouth so he could talk to the baby and instead of talking he pretended to burp on him. He also got a little jealous yesterday about a blanket. My mom found some fleece material in puppy dogs and cut out some blankets. Brett is a softy when it comes to a soft blanket and he couldn’t understand why the baby needed such big blankets and his blankets were smaller. So he negotiated a trade of his baby blanket that was much smaller (baby sized)for the larger blanket (brett sized). For the time being this will be okay but I just see this as a sign of things to come.
Now if any of you could just figure out how to speed up time I will be greatly appreciative. Then make it go really slow starting February 26th.

Couches

Just writing this post to vent about our couches, or lack thereof. So they were suppose to be delivered the week of January 11th. I called Monday and they didnt have an answer. yesterday I was told to call back and when I did they still didnt know. The guy on the phone said "I dont have the time or knowledge to look that up for you" So today I called back and they tell me that factory that ships them out was closed from December 24th until January 11th and they didnt call or anything to tell us. They said they will probably ship next week and that we will have them around the 25th!!!!! That is a long time away. We dont use that room a lot but its right when you walk into the house and now that they are gone I realize that I sit in that room more than I thought. After more research about the company we ordered them from (we heard about them from a friend of a friend) I found they have horrible ratings. If you google them there is a site that is very current with 6 unhappy customers, no happy ones. One of them mentioned that they were told the factory was closed as well but at a different time of year. Also if you go to the BBB they have an F rating. It stated they have over 20 complaints. So I am starting to freak out a little bit (okay a lot) about my new couches. We have paid them a deposit and do not have anything in writing. So keep your fingers crossed that we get couches or our money back. Right now I am just waiting and will call back next week to see if they shipped.

In other news we have 8 weeks left until the due date. I am getting extremely anxious about that as well. The baby's room is ready but I still cant picture a real baby being in there.

On the Brett front he is doing really well this week. Today he had a great experience using his words and not his fists with a little boy who took his toy. It was a big win for him!

Toys, Toys and More Toys

This weekend I undertook a project I probably shouldnt have as my back gave out on me for the remainder of the day Saturday (it was just fine by Sunday). Anyhow the basement was such a complete disaster and it was driving me nuts (maybe I am nesting)
All the boxes were dumped out and on the floor and you couldnt even walk straight through. I didnt do a great job cleaning it out but I at least got things stacked up against the walls. The other benefit of this was the Brett finally got the remainder of his toys back from the basement. It has been a rough road since he lost all his toys however he has made such improvements that it was finally time to get them all back. The amazing thing is just how many toys this kid actually has.

Brett was so sweet while going through his toys picking out toys he thought he didnt need anymore for the baby. Mostly it consisted of little people, elmo and thomas the train. The problem was after it was all over he just could resist playing with them again. I love that Brett is getting older and find it sad he likes older toys but every once in a while you get a glimpse of that little kid in him. He got to play with the little people and barn for a while. We made sure he knows that he can always play with them since he is the big brother. Brett also got to pick out a toy at the store for the baby. This toy was for the day the baby came home from his big brother. He ended up picking at toy bar for the car seat.

The other thing I told brett was that when he becomes a big brother I would get him a big brother gift. He asked if he could give me ideas and I told him yes but no promises. Anyway what he wants more than anything in the whole wide world (today) is an Easy Bake Oven..... So not what I expected.

Brett and his friend Seth have such a love hate relationship. They played some on Friday and got along so well. Today Seth has only been over for about 10 minutes and they have had about a million fights. They called each other liars about who dumped toys out, Seth has told brett he wants to leave about 10 times, so on and so forth. I try really hard not to take sides because usually Brett is partly at fault. But Brett is being so good today, not whining, asking for help when needed, and sharing, so its hard to be an impartial adult guiding them to come up with their own solutions.



The cool thing is that these construx toys that Brett loves so much have also appealed to Seth and things have settled down for the last 10 minutes. yahoo. (and we got all the other toys picked up) a little peace and quiet for a minute.


The last piece of news for today is that I can still drive a stick shift. Something to be proud of because it was hard for me to learn. I was really dreading driving the jeep but today I tried it out and didnt kill it once. I got one comment about being a race car driver reving the engine but still I remembered.

The good ole days

A friend of mine from college recently got in touch with me on Facebook and posted these pictures from our days at Weber State in Wasatch Hall. I must say it was fun to look back at them. We had such a blast in the dorms. All the girls were on the 2nd floor and Justin lived up on the 3rd floor. That is how we met. I can only say that looking back I was a lot skinnier than I remember. It was all those late night runs to Jake's Over the Top for french fries and Mint Oreo Shakes that must have caught up with me over the years.




Not everyone remembers how Justin looked when I first met him. He had long hair and was ready to flunk out of school because he would forget to go to class. It is amazing how much time has changed us both. I gained weight and he decided he loved school. Justin now cuts his own hair as short as he can get it and has a PhD and 2 Masters Degrees. Who knew it would turn into such a great adult. He was a very fun 19 year old!

The Hair Cut

So I had to donate a little of my Christmas Money for Justin's jeep to get enough cash together that day. Anyway since I gave up my hair cut Justin volunteered to give me one. This is actually the 2nd time he has cut my hair in the last 12 years. Anyway I added a few pictures. I must admit he didnt do half bad using Brett's safety scissors to cut it (my dollar tree scissors just didnt work very well). I joke about it because I really could have went out and got a haircut but it was fun watching Dr. Engineer getting it perfectly straight. Justin doesn't like it when things are uneven so lets just say it was a long hair cut, but a great moment in our relationship. I also added some pictures of Brett and my "construx" projects. I built a plane from the ground up and was very proud. Brett loves building things and then modifying to make it cooler.

Happy New Year

We rang in the new year at 10 pm with the New Yorkers on CNN. We let Brett stay up late for the count down but none of us could make it up for midnight. However our neighbors put off a pretty big illegal fireworks display from about 1130-100 in the morning so Justin and I were up for midnight anyhow. Brett was sound sleep at 1015 and slept through the whole thing. Brett banged on a pot and pan and gave everyone hugs including the dog. It was a very nice New Year.

Also on New Years Eve Justin found another deal he just couldn't pass up. After 12 years of marriage he still surprises me sometimes. He has been on a kick to find an old jeep to fix up for a project. On Christmas weekend he sold our flat bed trailer to pay for a jeep and on New Years Eve he found the one he couldn't pass up on KSL. He and brett made an impromptu trip to Salem, Ut to check it out. Luckily it had a tow hitch on it and they drug it home. Brett was such a trooper for the whole ride. Here are some pictures from the ad that was on KSL. Once we have it cleaned up a bit I will get some better pictures. It runs fine but needs some TLC. It has cracking paint on the front of it and the part that bugs me the most is that I don't think anyone has cleaned it in 10 years. The first purchase we made for he jeep was an air freshener. Today hopefully Justin will have some time to go out there with some Clorox and it will be ready to go. Justin wants to have it to drive to campus and then fix it up so in the summer we can go out on rides in the mountains with the top off with the whole family. He has his harley for sale as well right now because he just isn't using it and says he feels bad about being away from the family. What a good husband! Its probably just not the best time to sale it as he hasnt gotten any calls.




On New Years Day we left the house to go and get dog food and milk. 4 hours later we finally made it home. Justin ended up having to work an hour so Brett and I drew on marker boards up at weber, went to Luke's to deliver his Christmas present (And Thank you for everything luke- Brett loves his Black Power Ranger!!!). Right by Luke's house was a Chuck a Rama we were starving and had missed lunch unknowingly so we went there. It was packed. We got there at 330 and paid for lunch but they started dinner at 4. I must say all my thoughts of Chuck a rama are gone. we ate the best food. Maybe its that I Was extra hungry or the fact that I am pregnant but YUMMY!!!! I had carved turkey, roastbeef and fried shrimp but the best was the peach cobbler. It was a great meal to start 2010 off with. After we ate we finally got dog food and milk.

As far as brett goes we have not had any other episodes like had last week at school. Hoping its just a one time crazy thing that happened but we have been stuffing him full of fruits and veggies just to be safe.
