Caleb Smiles

Caleb is such a sweet little baby. Justin might not agree as he is the stay at home dad right now but Caleb just melts my heart. He has slept so good (knock on wood) 3 nights in a row now. He is starting to smile more and more.



Brett is just a sweet heart as well. He has made it through his 5th birthday and just so fun to be around. He has his own personality. He loves video games and playing sports the best.

Justin had to scoot from the party a little early today and skip swimming because he was busy installing a Mini Split Air conditioner in the room above our garage. The room is where we spend 90% of our time (its where the TV and the Wii are housed). Anyway when it hits about 75 degrees outside its about 86 degrees upstairs- 86 that is with a fan running at the bottom of the stairs pointing up, one at the top of the stairs, another one pointing at the couches and one out the window. we have been dealing with this for 2 years and just bearing it. Anyway with the kids staying home with Justin this year we decided to finally deal with the issue. We got lots of bids and they were thousands of dollars. Justin found a great deal online for the system we wanted and installed it himself with the help of a handy man from KSL. I figure he saved us about 3k by doing it himself. I am happy to be married to a handy man. Anyway it was only in the 70's today but you could tell it cooled the room. Keep your fingers crossed that it will work when its 100 outside!

Look who's 5!

on April 21st 2010 Brett Cason Jackson turned 5 years old.


This is Brett when he was only 3 days old.

Brett went out to eat with Yia Yia, Daddy, Mommy and Caleb to TGIF's for his favorite spinach dip. He also got to open some of his gifts. HE was so excited that Yia Yia and Papou bought him a Nintendo DS. He has really wanted one of those. He also got some games for it and then a Ben 10 Omnitrix and 10 alien guys. Overall it was a great birthday. He has his party with friends is on Saturday morning at the Classic Fun center (they get to bounce, ride scooters and run through a pirate ship)and then that night nana and grandpa will be visiting. They are staying at a hotel with a pool. So no matter how you look at it Brett is going to have 3 different birthday parties.

Last official day off work

I am so sad that my time off work is officially over. Dont get me wrong I have a really good job and I love HR but I am sad to end the time with Brett and Caleb. Today we had a fun last day. His field trip got canceled today so instead we went and played Miniature Golf and arcade games as a family. I got to push Caleb around and feed him while Justin and Brett had fun playing. Brett did great at golf. Monday its back to the reality of work. Bummer for me. Justin has 1 week left and then off for the summer.

Brett is going to be 5 years old on Wednesday. I still cant believe he is that old. A kindergartner this fall. He loves sports (playing them) and he loves video games. He especially likes to hang out with his daddy. He is such a great kid who can just melt your heart with his hugs. He is very excited for his birthday party next weekend at Classic Fun center. Some of his old Pals from his old school are going and he is very excited to see them.

Caleb is 6 weeks old today. Today he actually took a pacifier for an extended period of time. We tried some new ones. I know that its silly to want him to take a pacifier so bad but in the middle of the night when he is waking up hourly after he ate 6 ounces it would be nice to help him return to sleep without eating more. I am afraid he is getting into bad habits eating so much and not learning to fall asleep without it. Caleb is also filling out now. He is getting to be a little chunky monkey. I love little babies who are chubby. (really he is pretty small still but you can tell he is filling out)

Last week off work

I am so sad that I am almost halfway through my last week off work. My mom is coming on Monday for a week and then Justin gets the summer. I am not cut out to be a stay at home mom but I would love a stay at home summer. 8 weeks wasnt enough with Brett and 6 weeks wasnt enough with Caleb. This week we are going to a Dairy Farm for a field trip on Friday.

Brett was so fun this evening. He put a different items on the porch and said it was his super suit changing station and kept going over and changing his accessories to play soccer with. He was wearing shin gaurds, gloves, and a helmet and PJ's in this shot. I sat in Calebs room and watched him out the window as Caleb was eating.



Today Brett made me 10 pictures to take to work with me of Daddy, Mommy, Brett, Caleb and Cody so I dont miss them as much. What a sweetheart.

Caleb is starting to smile more but I cant seem to get it on camera because its always unexpected. I can always catch him crying. Caleb is a sweet baby but hates falling asleep. He is afraid he is going to miss something so we get a few cries when he gets tired all day.

Its Soccer Time Again

Brett had his first soccer game for Spring today. He hasn't played since fall but he seemed to catch right on. some of the other kids got way better over the winter. Brett had fun and the rest of us froze. brett is #5 and these are 3 of the goals he scored.




Caleb is just as sweet as can be.



Sad news for the kids today as the end of the dirt pile they all congregate in at night has been knocked down. Anther neighbor got permission to take the dirt and so now there is not a pile for the kids to play on. Wonder what they will start to do now. Justin went over and talked to them and said there were mice running everywhere. I really hope they dont run to our house for sanctuary. Guess the "poison" the boys made out of stickers and mud didnt work.

You would think being a second/youngest child that I would know not to compare my children as I was also compared and contrasted against my sister and we are very different. But I find myself always comparing how brett was as a baby to Caleb. What I am finding out is that they are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

Brett started out being high maintenance right away. He cried from day one and hasnt stopped yet. Caleb is a crier as well but nothing compared to Brett, the thing with Caleb is that he will not take a pacifier! Every once in a while you can sneak one in for a second but 2 minutes later you will find that pacifier across the room. I thought he might be a thumb sucker but nope. Brett cried a lot but you could sooth him with a paci. Caleb squeaks a lot but you cant sooth him with sucking. He would rather eat more food instead.

Brett loved sleeping in his crib. He would never fall asleep on me but he would on Justin (this is where he is the same) but Brett always preferred to be asleep in his room in his crib. Caleb wakes up the second he hits the mattress of his crib. He is much more happy in the bouncer or swing near family. I think that he is just so use to hearing his big brother screaming he is lonely in his room. Brett also loved to be swaddled, whereas Caleb HATES it.... but I still swaddle him at night in hopes for a longer night sleep.... However his arms always find a way out and he scoots across the crib.

The last 2 days I am also finding that Caleb fights sleep off. He just fights and fights until he is so tired its hard to get him to sleep. He he finally nods off it makes me so happy because you can see relaxation in his face.

Its hard not to compare them but I am just learning at 1 month old Caleb is his own person already. I love that.

So I only have 1.5 weeks left off work. I am sad and glad at the same time. Sad I have to go back as I have enjoyed them so much but Glad to know that they will be home with their loving daddy until August. That makes the transition much easier. I have found once place to take Brett and Caleb in the fall that will transport Brett to the charter school. Its a home day care and WAY different from anyplace we have been. I am still keeping my options open but glad to know we have at least one option.

Brett has a little cabin fever right now. I must say that its partially my fault. He hasnt had preschool due to spring break since last Wednesday and lets just say he is ready to go back! I have been so tired the last 2 days he has over done the Wii and tv watching. Dont get me wrong we get some activities and learning in but he is so fast at those. Brett can play a wii game for hours with no problem but tell him to go play with toys and he lasts about 15 minutes tops. So he had a friend come over and I told them no wii and the two boys could not agree on a thing to do except wii. Seth says..."we can play what brett wants" Brett says "lets play ninjas or bakugun" seth says "no". I gave them a million ideas. The only other thing they wanted to do was play soccer but with 4 inches of snow still on the grass it just wasnt a good option. low and behold I gave into the Wii again. I feel bad for so much Wii but on a cold snowy Day I couldnt figure anything else out.

Seth also asked me how bad it hurts to "get the baby out down there" (from my own child this is a borderline appropriate conversation but not from a neighbor kid). Also Brett said oh you can just call her mom and Seth said "but my mom is skinnier". Now his mom is like a size 0, if that and I am so far away from that but still.....

Easter Egg Hunts 2 and 3

Brett had so many hunts this year. He had one for preschool then we went to the West Haven City one as well. I was hoping with the weather being horrible the night before people would sleep in and stay away.... but nope, it was packed. It started at 9 am and we were home and warm by 9:25. Brett got a ton of candy. While we were there we got separated from each other. Luckily it was only for a few moments but man that is scary.




Brett also got to hunt eggs at home easter morning. We had nana and grandpa visiting. So the whole family got to get up at 7 am to watch him hunt. I must say it was very enjoyable. Every year the holidays get funner and funner



Last year brett was disappointed that the bunny didnt leave something in the oven (not sure where this idea came from) but this year he was overjoyed to learn that the bunny left a book and egg in the oven.


Caleb had a rough night last night.... so did mommy. I am not sure how this happens but when Caleb finally fell asleep brett woke up. Then I got a little sick to my stomach and when I Finally got to bed Caleb was awake. This morning I asked Brett for a nap but he kept coming in for random things. I finally got him playing Wii so I could sleep and boom Caleb was awake. I finally gave up trying. Right now its 1230 and Caleb is finally having a decent nap and Brett is behaving but its time for lunch. I guess I will catch up tonight....

Portraits

Took the boys for pictures the other day. These are some of the shots we purchased. It was a very crazy trip for me alone with 2 boys but we made it. We kept having to feed caleb a few sips of formula between every picture. brett was watching a movie so we would call him over when it was time. Such cute brothers. These are pictures of pictures so the quality is not great but you can still see how cute they are.









Justin was so excited that the governor signed the bill for the engineering program but now he is stressed out and tired. It is created a ton of work for him on top of getting ready for finals. He might teach a class this summer and will have to do more night classes now. Its a great opportunity for Weber and for Justin but he is exhausted....
