New Orleans or Bust

Its 5:43 am and we are off to warm (65 degrees) New Orleans. I am so nervous about the game. I keep thinking the Utes have a chance... but everyone on the tv says they dont. Being the underdogs is kinda fun. I guess we will see on Friday. I am hoping its not a blow out that would be the only bad outcome.

Brett went to his Grandma's and Grandpa's on Saturday. It has been a very quiet few days without him. Brett was having so much fun down there. He got a scotter for Christmas from his grandparents and transformers with Matt. Yesterday he got to go and play with a little boy named McCade for 3 hours and see their pony. I dont think he will ever want to come home, but I miss him already.

The newest member of our family.... Brett asked santa to bring a toy puppy who could talk. The first santa looked over at me and I gave him a smile to indicate it was okay. the Santa at brett's school said he wouldnt bring him a puppy... but trucks. Of course I didnt have any trucks so I had to take a few trucks out of the "Brett lost his toys to the garbage box" so he could have a few since Santa told him he couldnt have a puppy. He didnt say much about the trucks but man was he excited to see the dog bark and talk.

Santa Came

Brett all nestled all snug in his bed, while santa came down the chimney with presents for him. We expected Brett to be up early and excited but he slept in! (lucky for us, but I was in bed looking at the clock wondering if I should just wake him up cuz I was excited) Anyway about 7:30 he woke up to a bad dream. I hugged him for a minute and then mentioned santa and he was all over the bad dream.




I got lots of great stuff for Christmas- we bought ourselves a gun safe and a trip to new orleans. I also got a weber watch and necklace as well as a Wii Fit from Santa! Thanks everyone!!!!

Merry Christmas Eve

We had a wonderful Christmas Eve.... or should I say we are having the most the wonderful Christmas Eve..... We started out with a Chili Dinner (okay so Justin had Chili, I had Chili without Beans and Brett had Mac n Cheese) We are going to top it off with a Christmas Movie. we already watched Christmas Vacation today and I think tonight will be home alone. Christmas day our tradition is "a christmas story".

Merry Christmas Shilaos Family

We got to celebrate Christmas a few days early with my side of the family. After all was said and done and Brett was at home playing. he said this was the best Christmas ever and it was all he ever wanted. Geez, Santa hasnt even came yet.

Brett and his cousin Jace both got Batman's for Christmas. Brett was in heaven. He has been working on a sticker chart for one (very slow going right now) so it was exactly what he wanted. Sticker chart has switched to superman now. 3 Cousins are so sweet together.



After we got home Brett insisted on going on a ride in his new wagon from Yia Yia and Papou while playing his new matching game from aunt Jens family. Thanks to everyone


I got this great bowl of potpourri from my sister that goes perfect in our house and smells delightful. Thanks Jen!


It was so nice to see our family. I appreciate them so much. Recently my uncle passed away, while I didnt know him as well as I should have it has put an interesting perspective on family. I am so lucky to have such a great family and a great in-law family as well.

Happy Birthday Dani!

Brett's girlfriend Dani's 3rd birthday was today! She had an awesome b-day party at a bounce house! Brett had a blast. 2 Straight hours of running and jumping has gotta be the best thing in the world for Brett.

Dani is in the one in the middle! She had a great Cars birthday cake.... no princesses for this girl! I think thats why Brett likes her so much.


I am so glad he can climb alone....... I would be petrified.

The Jacksons are going to Disney World

I dont mean to brag with all these trips planned but I am so excited!!!!!! We havent been on a trip for over a year, and now 2 in a 2 month period of time. We were not going to do the Disney World because of New Orleans but then I found some great deals on plane tickets. Justin is going for work so the hotel, his flight, his food are free. I got a plane ticket for Brett and I and will have to get our disney tickets/food. When I saw the flights come down I just couldnt say no!!!!

Brett's response: "why would we want do that"....... He has no idea whats in store but is completely unexcited at this point, even about the plane ride.

Justin will be working so it will be Brett and Mommy at the park for most of it. Justin will get to join us on 2 nights. I am starting to hope now that there will not be any of our outting bathroom tramas, temper tantrum, etc......

On the New Orleans front I am getting excited for that as well. I was a little dissappointed today to find out that no one in our group: my mom, my dad, and Justin will go on a Haunted Ghost/Vampire Tour with me..... Grouches!!!!! I think that would be a blast but no one will go....... Bummer for me.

On a very happy note...... My suitcase zipper broke on my last trip for work, I havent really been looking but today I went to Big Lots and they had a purple (my all time favorite color) suitcase for dirt cheap...... So I had to get one anyway it doesnt hurt that it was way cheap! and it was Purple!!!!!

The Jacksons are going to New Orleans

Well once again we are going to a bowl game. This year its a little more than a road trip. We are going to New Orleans, LA to watch the Utah Utes take on Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. My parents are going with us again and Brett will be spending a wonderful week with his grandma and grandpa (Thanks Deb, Steve and Matt).



In other news Brett finally finished another sticker chart. This one was pretty tough for some reason. But we made it. He got to go pick out any toy (with a price limit) at the store. He ended up with Spider Man. While he was there he feel in love with Batman so the next sticker chart is to earn a batman toy.

Swimming Lessons

Brett is in his 3rd week of swimming lessons. He has having a lot of fun. He has gotten so daring and will now put his head under water with no problems.




Brett and mommy made Christmas Sugar Cookies. Brett did great with the sprinklers.



I went to a store that was going out of business to buy some sheets. We have a california king bed and not many stores have the right size sheets. While I was there the prices were so good I ended up with a bedspread, sheets, mattress protector.

Brett was playing hide and seek and climbed up on the shelf in his closet and got stuck. It was kinda embarrassing for him to ask for help down.
