A lucky streak (knock on wood)

Justin and a couple of buddies went to wendover this last weekend. Boys night out! With our trip just getting over to New Orleans and another one coming up next week he didnt get to take much money with him on the trip. I figured he would be out of money by 10 pm and bored out of his mind! Little did I know he was going to have a lucky night. He actually came home with a lot more money than he started with and was up until 6 am playing roulette and let it ride. Needless to say he was very tired the rest of the weekend but WAHOOO! now we have money to eat with in Florida!

While they were playing we took the little boys out to see Hotel for Dogs. It was cute but Brett at a movie at night time is not the best. He sort of lost interest half way through and got a little wiggly. Then Daxton asked him to sit by him and he was so happy to be able to sit by his friend that he made it through the rest of movie. Thank goodness. I am thinking Girls Night out is coming up soon!

7 Days and Counting Down

I am getting so excited to go to Disney World. The temperature there is suppose to be around 70 degrees and sunny!!!!! Doesn't that sound heavenly? I am freezing in my office today wearing 2 coats and gloves! We are even bringing our suits to swim in a heated pool at the hotel. I am sad that Justin will be working during most of it but Brett and I are off to the happiest place on earth for 3 days of magic and wonder. Thanks Jen for watching the dog!

This morning I showed Brett a little 6 minute clip on Disney World. Right now he is excited to go but moreso to see Mickey Mouse than to go on the rides. I just dont think he gets it yet!

Brett had a great week last week but a yucky Monday this week. He hit 2 teachers yesterday and then threw his shoe at my head in the car when I told him he didnt get to play last night because he hit his teachers. He just gets so mean when he doesnt get what he wants. I try and make sure we dont give him everything all the time but I can tell he still needs to learn how to control his emotions when he gets dissapointed.

Before Christmas I got an email asking me to do a survey for Lands End. In Return if I put all my purchases on the survey for 6 weeks and took pictures of stuff I bought and advertisements. If I participated for 6 weeks I got a 200.00 gift card. I kinda wondered if it would all pan out but last night I got my gift card and today got to have a mini shopping spree!!!!!

Brett is starting to draw pictures that really resemble things. As a mom I have always been able to make things out of his pictures but now they are getting more and more recognizable. He did this one including the face all by himself. It is a friendly monster. Also notice his name. His e is backwards but he pretty much knows all the letters in his name. He said the little heart shapped thing was all the food in his tummy.



In other news we have had kind of a rough long weekend. I was so happy to get a 3 day weekend becuase in the last 8 years I havent gotten Martin Luther King Day off. This was the first time in years. I was so happy but ended up being sick all weekend long. Then on top of that my car had problems. It started out as a 150.00 repair, then turned into 1100.00 Justin talked them down to 900.00 (what a stud) and then they called back with another 200.00 issue. OUCH!!!! So the good thing is that its fixed and running but the bad thing was is that it cost a lot of money. Then this morning Brett would not wake up. He was so tired. all weekend while I have been sick he has been waking justin up at 6 am. Today it was 730 and I was dressing him sound asleep. I finally got him a little awake and brought him to the kitchen to put his shoes on. I sat him on the counter top and he laid down and went to sleep. then doubled over in pain and threw up in the sink. (thank goodness it was in the sink). I sat him in bed to watch tv while I took a conference call and then wa la he was just fine. Acting great until I left at noon to go to work. Justin is home with him now.

The Good Ole Days

Do you remember how fun it was to be a kid. Nothing to worry about, and playing all the time. Brett had a really good day at school on monday (knock on wood) I asked him if he would like to go celebrate and go out to Burger King and play on the playground. He said no he wanted to go home and have Seth eat dinner over for his celebration (a little weird I thought). Anyway they had mac n cheese, yogurt and applesauce and a great old time.

Brett had a rough week at school the week before, this week has been okay so far. he just finished another sticker chart and now we are starting a ball thing. He is going to start loosing balls if he hits or kicks. Right now he is having issues when he is not first in line. He loves to be first in line and be the line leader. When he doesnt get to he has a fit. So at home right now we have to make sure he is not always first. I hate acting like a 3 year old but sometimes we have to win races and such.


I loved lincoln logs as a kid. They were the coolest. Brett likes them but I must admit I think I am enjoying his santa gift a bit more than him.

We made it on TV

We were shown on TV about 3 times in the 4th quarter and right after. You can see in this picture Justin and Me, mom's eyes, and dad's hat and ear.

Steve, we are so glad your home!

Unbeknown to us while we were cheering on the Utah Utes in warm New Orleans, Justins dad was missing, and spending a very cold night on a moutain top.

In Fairview Canyon it took a snow cat to get to the stranded snowmobiler.

A 58-year old man survived the temperatures which settled in the teens overnight.

“Lessons learned,” said the snowmobiler named Steve. He didn’t want to disclose his last name.

Authoraities said he was snowmobiling with others in along the Utah and Sanpete County border.

He took a different route and got stuck.

"I just made a big mistake headed down a road that I had traveled 50 times and got lost,” he said. “I was just going in circles and ran into a hole that I couldn't see."

But to his credit he stayed put, had warm clothes and this morning a search plane spotted him.

“I hunkered out there last night and that's why I made it here,” he said.

We didnt learn of the fact that Steve did not return that night until the next morning. We were in Denver and felt horrible we could not do anything. About an hour after we found out he was found! I can not tell you the emotions that went through our heads! We are so happy he is home. Its horrible he got lost but the good thing is that he is a smart person, he had on the right gear, stayed with his sled, had a beacon, and dug himself a snow hole! Thank goodness he kept it together and is now safe and sound. When he was found the first thing he made sure is that his family knew he was okay, said he was hungry and wanted to know if the Utes won! A huge thanks to the Search and Rescue team and his friends who helped find him.

Sugar Bowl Champions- University of Utah Utes

We were not sure what to expect when we got to New Orleans. We had a blast and it was capped off with the most thrilling football game I have ever been too!!!! The Utah Utes totally Destroyed Alabama! It was crazy! After the game the crowd just headed towards burbon street to keep celebrating. We decided to go back to the room and try and get some sleep! We failed. When we left the room at 4 am for the airport people were still out in force drinking their night away! It was something else and I was happy to be there and see it!

New Orleans, LA

We spend a lot of time in the airport on the way, but made it with very little delay! Had 3 lay overs all together and it was smooth sailing.



Oak Alley Plantation. We went on a 4 hour tour on a bus to a final destination of a plantation. It was a great trip all together. We got to see alot of new orleans and the outter areas, we drove by cemetaries, swamps, bayous, etc. The plantation was amazing. It was not as big as I would have imagined but impressive. This history there is amazing.



We didnt dare go out to late on New years, there were parties going on everywhere. We stayed out until around 10 and went to the rooms. We were very lucky that right out of our Window lay the Mississippi River! We could see the entire fireworks show like it was being put on just for us. (Justin slept right through it)



We ate dinner the first night on Burbon Street. Yes we went after dark.... It was not as bad as I expected, but still not a place I would want to be on mardi gras. We had a great meal on a 2nd story balcony overlooking the street. It was very dirty and I wouldnt want to touch anything around it but it was not as scary as I thought. There are some pretty risque pictures around, live music, and lots of drinking but it was mainly full of football fans so not a real bad crowd.


I talked mom into going on a haunted history tour! We went at night and I can report we did not see a ghost, however someone in our group thought they got a picture of one.

We ate great while we were there- Jumbalaya, PoBoys, Greenbeans, Steak, Shrimp, etc..... The only thing we didnt have is a Bignet which they are famous for.
