Fishing

Justin and his dad went on a fishing trip to a private lake in Wyoming.  From the looks of the pictures it appears they were telling the truth about how big the fish were.

Fun day

Tonight I took Caleb and Brett to the Enchanted Forrest at the Treehouse museum.  It was a fun halloween event.  They walked through the museum and meet a variety of fictional characters like peter pan, the tin man, a fairy god mother, and dorothy.  Throughout the journey they were trying to find clues that the Wicked Witch of the West had melted so they could get the scarecrow a brain.  Along the way they collected some pretty unique prizes and treats.  Brett got very into the program.  Caleb on the other hand was much too young (which I knew when I bought the tickets).  At first he stuck very close to me but then he started to want to explore the museum.  He didnt want to hold hands, he didnt want to be held he just wanted to go and play.  The one thing he did like to do was get his treat.  He would hold his little orange bag out and just start walking.  He never knew where to go so he would just go up to complete strangers with his bag opened.  Brett and I worked hard to navigate and then I tried to make sure he didnt try and eat his candy while we were there.  Overall it was a blast but boy am I tired.

Today we painted pumpkins.  The one that Caleb painted we actually grew ourselves.  Brett took his job very seriously and made sure it was perfect. He said that the pumpkin had eyes in his cheeks.  I could have sworn he was saying his pumpkin had chink eyes and was trying to tell him not to say that.

caleb also had fun painting but I wasnt sure if he thought he was suppose to paint his face or the pumpkin.

Taytam (witch) joined us.  Taytam is the little girl that Caleb plays with all day. 

The Ride

This weekend Justin and I hired a babysitter and went for a ride on the Harley.  Justin does this all the time, but for me I havent been on the bike for over 2 years.  The weather was great and we went with great friends (Ryan and Missy).  We road through East Canyon over to Emigration Canyon and then had a nice dinner in Salt Lake.  Along the way we saw a bald eagle soaring over a lake (no pictures because I was hanging on tight).

Today we decided to go to Cabelas.  On the way down we took a quick stop at the Mayan restaurant.  It was a very fun spontaneous day.

Caleb wants to be just like his big brother

Spent an hour at the pumpkin patch today. Brett looked at every single pumpkin there. Finally after a long deliberations he selected a great pumpkin. We also grew on ourselves this year but it was not quite big enough to carve. Caleb enjoyed it as well but I dont think understood it. He picked up small ones and threw them like a ball.

Goodbye old friend

Today I sold my Toyota highlander..... I was so excited to get a new car, and also excited to have the Toyota sold but I must admit while we were walking in the door to pick up the check I got teary eyed.  I have put 142,000 miles on that car.  I purchased it with 5079 miles and sold it with over 147k which I can say were almost all mine.  Overall I figured that out at an average of 50 miles per hour to be about 2840 hours over 7 years that I have spent in that car.  Seven years is longer than any job I have ever held, longer than any place I have lived as an adult, and older than my children.   There are many memories, vacations, and activities that car makes me think about.   I have a great new car and I am so happy but I must admit it feels like the end of an era.
