What a Night…..

Last night was horrible. It started when I picked up Brett at school. He wanted to doddle and I was trying to get him in his car seat. I try and let him be independent but geez, sometimes it is time to go. He threw the absolute biggest tantrum ever. He went stiff and just wailed. It took me 30 minutes to get him strapped in. He kept going the entire way home and then when we got home I put him in time out. He kept going. It was horrible. I had to take the garbage out to have silence. Anyway, I was a bad mom and told him he needed to shut up……This was after I tried everything else. I didn’t say it mean or anything. ( I know everyone has lost all respect for me now, I feel horrible) He didn’t listen obviously but later after he calmed down guess what he started to say. Yep, you guessed it “shut up” I feel horrible. It wasn’t the right thing to say anyway but now I will never forget it. So once this was over and I got him watching a TV show I burnt my arm with steam from mashed potatoes. This is why I normally don’t cook. It is bright red, not peeling or anything but very painful. Justin was teaching so I had to give him a bath while I was in pain. He wouldn’t let me take his shirt off and I couldn’t fight with him so he had his bath in his t-shirt. After he agreed to get out I did get his PJ’s on.

I am really hoping tonight is better. I have my purse armed with suckers to bribe him in his car seat so that we don’t go through that again.

Uuuggghhhh.

Weekend Get-Away

Last weekend Justin, Brett and I went to Fish Lake. It was beautiful. I haven’t had a chance to download pictures yet. Saturday the weather was very windy and then it snowed. We tried to fish but every time they cast out the line it ended up on the bank next to us. It was just too windy. Brett got to throw a few rocks in the lake and he was happy but it was just too cold. The rest of the day we got to enjoy inside the cabin with the curtains open and just looking out at the falling snow. It was very windy but once you are inside the cabin it really was beautiful. Yia Yia and Papou came to visit as well so Brett was excited.

Sunday Brett was tired and we needed to go to a gas station so we started driving. The next thing you knew we were in Capital Reef National Park. Brett was still asleep and we didn’t want to wake him so we drove though. It was a beautiful day. Nice and cool with blue skies. Not to many people around. I have lived in Utah all my life and never been there. I am definitely thinking it will be a good ride for the Harley (estimated deliver date of October 19). Brett woke up on the way back and we got out a little but he was still in his PJ’s and no shoes since we hadn’t planned on ending up there. I put some pictures on of things we saw but these were not my pictures. I haven’t downloaded them yet.





While we had a nice time at Fish Lake sleeping was not one the agenda for the weekend. We brought Brett’s portable crib and it was way too small. Not sure when that happened exactly but it broke my heart to see him in there all scrunched up. So we ended up having him sleep with us one night and that was a joke. Brett sleeps in every direction except the normal way. He kicked us all night. The next day we brought down a twin for him to sleep on the floor with and that did not work either. I laid down with him and just thought it was fun to have mommy in bed with him and just kept playing. He tucked me in and kissed me goodnight then he would get up and put his mouth next to my ear and scream. Thank goodness for Yia Yia and Papou rocking him all night. The next night he feel asleep in the crib we moved him to the twin and then about midnight I ended up down there with him getting kicked. I kept trying to get up but every time I did he would reach out and touch my face. So we slept there until about 6 am and then he was up. He got a 3 hour nap on the car ride home which was well needed. Mommy and Daddy were still tired.

Farewell to the Buick!

The car in the top picture is not ours…. but similar. Our Buick is not quite as shiny. The picture with Brett, is him sitting on the hood of the Buick getting ready to watch a movie at the Drive In. Anyway to make a long story short we are finally getting rid of the Buick.

I need to start out by defending the Buick by saying that since we got it in 2002 or 2003 (I think). It has been a good car. It has been reliable for the most part and has gotten us from point a to b without a problem for 4-5 years. It has plush maroon seats and the air conditioning works most of the time. Brett also loves the red car. The Buick has taken us to countless drive in movies and has foot prints on windshield and popcorn in every crook and crany because of it. I will always have fond memories of the Buick……

However, I am so happy to see it go. The Buick is a representation of a pretty tough time in our lives. Justin and I both got laid off in the same time period. I can still remember my parents driving up in the Buick they got from Basso’s in Price and then driving away in my beautiful electric blue Mustang to give to Basso’s to sell. I know that it’s a pretty vain thing to be so upset about a car but that was very hard. I loved that mustang.

As stated above the Buick filled our needs for the last few years but saying goodbye to it seems like we are finally shutting the door on a book. But I must say that even though lay offs and everything were hard, the last five years have really shaped where we are now, and I like where we are now…. Justin is getting his PhD, we had our son Brett, etc.

I told Brett last night as we were cleaning out all our stuff that we were going to not have the red car anymore. He said he wanted the red car to play in. I truly believe that by the time he is 16 that Buick will still be running. So in 14 years from now if he doesn’t have a car he is going to be ticked we got rid of it.

So while I am ecstatic to get rid of the Buick, it is shutting a chapter of a book that was worth the read.

Age 30

Well I finally hit the big 30. The age you are a year after 29, the ultimate age everyone wishes they were again.

So far 30 has been pretty enjoyable. I got to eat All You Can Eat Crab at Big Rock Candy Mountain! It was wonderful and I have to admit I ate a full 2 crabs. Justin made it to 2 1/2 but I couldn't eat anymore. The Utes beat UCLA!!!!! I spent the most wonderful day with Brett today at the mall getting photos, building a cow, and just goofing off. So 30, thus far has been great but its back to the grind tomorrow.

I got an exercise machine from my parents that is really nice and quiet (Thanks Mom and Dad). I just need to keep motivated to use it. I got a leather jacket from Justin to use on the Harley when it gets here. I also have an appointment scheduled next week for a complete hair/makeup makeover (Thanks Deb, Steve, and Justin)! I am getting highlights, a style, and a makeup lesson. Keep your fingers crossed that it goes well. I am in need of a little umph to my look lately.

Bear Lake

First of all let me say Thank You to Ryan and Missy for inviting us to Bear Lake. We had such a good time. I have only been to bear lake once in my life before this and it was for a wedding of my friend Jerry like 6 or 7 years ago. I never got near the water. Bear Lake was beautiful! The water was so blue..... Justin referred to it as "glacier blue" and I have to admit it felt like that but it was so much fun! Brett did not like getting in the water in the middle of the lake but he love it up by the beach. Brett and Dax had good times and bad times together but overall I would say it totally favored the good times! Brett had a blast and since we have been home has talked about the boat. We spent some time on a beach that was probably one of the best days of his life thus far.

Justin and I also had fun. It was nice spending time chatting with good friends. Also to see Justin jumping off the bow of a boat was extraordinary.... Justin is typically not that fond of water, and has been way stressed out starting a new job so it was really fun to see him just enjoying himself throughly.

Overall I can just say we had a blast. Thanks again!

Happy 10th Anniversary

Justin and I have officially been married for 10 years. I think that he deserves a big round of applause for putting up with me that long. I know I can be trying. My mom says I cause grey hair and I believe that I gave Justin some of that already. We have came a long way in 10 years lived in an apartment, a townhouse, a house, apartment and now a house again. Been through many (many) years of school, different cars, and different jobs But the best part is that we had our son 2 years ago. Its been a fun ride and the good thing is that its not over yet.

Anyway Justin I love you a ton and am so happy that it has been 10 years. It feels like it was just yesterday most of the time....



Oh! Just had to add I just got 2 dozen roses!!!!! They smell wonderful.
