Mondays

Today was a real Monday.  Brett was sick and miserable all day.  I had purchased Stick A Doodle for Brett's birthday in April.  It happened to show up today and since it was a sick day and we needed a break from the TV it was a nice quiet activity so he got it a little early.  Stick a Doodle is way over priced but he loves the commercial. It is just thin plastic that has static so it sticks to the wall. They send you 10 pages and then 4 dry erase markers.  So even though its cheap junk that was over priced it was sure welcomed at our house today.  Brett drew a picture of everyone in the family and wrote their names. He also dubbed the dog Cody to have the middle name of Brett. 

 Caleb spent some time at day care so I could work today but I did pick him up around 2.  I worked for about 6 straight hours and then wanted to spend some time with my boys.  Any way he ended up sleeping for 2 straight hours and then work up cranky.  After some food he was a little better and then in the tub he was having a ball.  I stepped out in the hallway to grab his towel and boom he was holding his poop again.  After getting him all cleaned up and in his PJs he climbed on this toy.  He was having a ball. I took a picture of him because he was being so cute.  right after the picture snapped he fell off.  He cried for a second then got right up and on again. a few seconds later blood was drizzling down his face.  But as you can see he was happy. He bleed from the inside of his lip horribly.  He bleed and bleed and bleed.   He didnt seem upset and was smiling in this picture (this was between the fall and realizing he was bleeding),  After a quick fight to clean him up (he seemed to be enjoying the blood going down his throat). He was right back to being mr. happy again.

 Brett is home sick today.  On Saturday I thought he felt a little warm but he ended up having a friend come to play later in the day.  He also built a snowman with me that morning.  Sunday he woke up just feeling miserable and has had a climbing fever since then.  I ended up taking him to the urgent care on Sunday.  We spent over 3 hours there.  It was miserable.  They were so busy they were handing out chips and waters to the waiting room.  Since they had a stock pile there my assumption is that this happens often.  Brett did not test positive for Strep but the Dr. had a good feeling that is what he has.  The only thing is that today (monday) he is stuffy as well which is not consistent with Strep. He is on antibiotics but still burning up at 103.5.  I just feel so bad and want to make him feel better.  Alls we have done today is watch TV.  I have been working while he watches.  Needless to say I have got a TON of work done but have not done much as a mom. I had justin take Caleb to day care so I could work and cater to brett but so far brett hasnt needed me much.  He just wants to veg on the couch.

  Thank you so much to Deb for heading up tonight and watching them tomorrow so we can work.  Being a working mommy is very hard sometimes.

Few odds and ends

Not really that much going on these days but thought I would do a quick post for a few updates.

1.  My dad finished Radiation and Chemo (other than maintenance chemo)!!!!!!!!!!!!  Yahoo! 

2.  Brett got a black eye courtesy of Caleb!!!!!  Guess it made up for the blood nose he gave to the kid on the bus.

3.  Caleb might or might not be talking. Justin swears he is but mom has not heard it yet. however he did point to mom's nose on demand.

Good to be home

It sure feels good to be home.  Both Justin and I have traveled to Texas in the last 2 weeks and let me just tell you we both love Utah even more now.  

He took a 2 hour ride that should have taken 20 minutes due to ice storms and I had a flight canceled.  It is so nice to be home to my great family and have us all together

 Brett had kind of a rough week but now that we are all home he is back to his old self again. 

Uncle Larry spent the last few months of his life taking care of my family.  He was there for my family when we needed someone the most.   I am so sorry that he passed away just weeks after he left Utah.   I never told him how thankful I was for his selflessness.  Uncle Larry was a good soul who did not deserve to die from cancer.  I hope his family understands how grateful I am for what he did for my family.

Larry Don Patton
Funeral services for Larry Don Patton, 64, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.

Mr. Patton died Feb. 3, 2011, in Round Rock. He was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Brownfield to Arville and Evelyn Patton.

Mr. Patton was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Patton; and his first wife, Carolyn Sue Patton.

Survivors include his wife, Lori; father, Arville Patton and his wife, Mary, of Price, Utah; sister, Shirley Shilaos and her husband, Aleck, of Price, Utah; son, Larry Don Patton II and his wife, Tiffany, of Port Lavaca; daughter, Kim Daniel and her husband, Ben, of Georgetown; stepson, Tyler Axelson of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and five grandchildren, Faith, Ethan, Jed, Justin and Jake.

Memorial donations may be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 100 N. College St., Round Rock, TX, 78664.
